01

Why you exist

For 20 years, until 2020, we were an event production company running festivals and street fairs for cities and organizations such as chambers of commerce. We noticed that the events we helped them organize did nothing to help local businesses. When we asked, both the cities and the chambers said the businesses' results were not their concern.

That's why you're here. You bring local businesses the help they aren't getting anywhere else.

Some owners will challenge this story. They are the few who are "in" with the city or chamber and get its real support and attention. Most owners you talk to will echo our story, or worse.
02

Your responsibilities

Listed in priority order.

Reach local businesses

Priority 1

There are hundreds of businesses in every city. Let's help as many as we can, starting with your first goal of 100.

  • Talk to 20 or more businesses a week, about 80 a month, using the outreach methods under Your working rhythm.
  • Conservatively, about half of them (10 a week, 40 a month) become active engagements. Use our tools to stay connected with each of these owners and keep showing them how we can help.
  • About half of your active engagements, 20 or more a month, become paying clients.

Work alongside your city's Social Media Assistant

Priority 2

As our client base grows, clients will need more social media support. Most owners don't have the time or the know-how for this critical job.

  • Once your city reaches 20 paying clients at the $697 level, we'll invest in a Social Media Assistant to help you manage their posting.
  • The goal is one assistant for every 50 clients.

Sponsor local events

Priority 2

As revenue grows in your city, on top of our promotion of local events, we'll set aside part of sales for sponsorships and other give-backs to the community, a thank-you for the way it has blessed us. We'll make it known that we support local events and charities and help their fundraising.

Support local nonprofits

Priority 2

Supporting those in need has always been on my agenda. For programs we vet:

  • Start by promoting their events and fundraisers for free.
  • As our revenue grows, add donations and sponsorships.
  • Offer our marketing and event-management resources to help them reach their goals.

Run our programs for schools and the homeless

Priority 3

We intend to support the community beyond what is already being done.

  • Homeless: Truth be told, there isn't much beyond the same broken methods the city keeps using. We'll support programs that can change this epidemic for the better.
  • Schools: We'll support schools financially and, if they want it, promote their events, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities so they get what they need.
  • Young entrepreneurs: We'll develop a local entrepreneur training program to help budding business owners become thriving "business investors" of the future.
Why "investor"? A truly successful business is a system designed to make money, not a pile of busy work for the owner. If it's busy work, it's a job, and it's already doomed to struggle.
03

Who you serve

  • Local business owners. Every kind of business trying to reach the locals in its community. This is what our program is built for. Regional and national chains such as Chipotle and Starbucks already have their marketing worked out and won't need us.
  • Event organizers. Any event happening in your city can benefit from our promotion services, and our marketing services if needed, even when the organizer is from out of the area.
  • Nonprofits, churches and schools. "Goodwill" clients we help with promotion and marketing at no cost, as the community supports us.
04

Who supports you

You report directly to Dave Mears, Founder, until we have at least 10 Ambassadors running.

Then we'll hire our first Team Manager, who will cover a set of counties adding up to 20–30 cities. Their entire role is to make sure you have what you need.

Your day-to-day hub is your My Work page in Pulse.

How you earn

Your monthly funnel

80 conversations
20+ a week across all outreach
40 active
About half stay engaged
20+ clients
About half of your active list says yes

Your first three months

Each client pays at least $297 a month. While you build, you earn 50% of your city's revenue to help you reach the $10K-a-month earnings goal.

MonthNew clientsTotal clientsCity revenueYour 50%
120+20$5,940$2,970
220+40$11,880$5,940
320+60$17,820$8,910
  • Month 1: Talk to 80+ businesses, actively engage about 40 of them, and close 20+. That's half of your active list, and it's our job as a company to make that easy to achieve.
  • Month 2: Another 80 conversations add another 40 to your active list, which leads to another 20+ clients. We're also starting to collect success stories.
  • Month 3 and beyond: It keeps scaling and gets easier. Word spreads that you're actually helping local businesses, owners see the results of our promotional presence, and you start closing more than 20 a month. We use that leverage to reach 100 paying clients at $297 a month, then grow them to an average of $697 a month.

How your earnings grow

Everyone at NUCO has to make the company more than they earn. It's the only way we survive and thrive. You start at 50% to help you reach $10K a month quickly. As your city's revenue grows, the rate steps down to our long-term 20%, and your dollar earnings keep rising.

City revenue / monthYour rateYou earn / month
$20K50%$10K
$40K30%$12K
$70K (our goal per Ambassador)20%$14K
$120K20%$24K
Why 50% to start? We give more in the beginning to help you reach the $10K monthly minimum this role should earn. At $10K a month you can afford to live wherever you want. And $10K is the floor: your true earnings potential is 2 to 3 times that.

Milestones that show true success

  • $70K a month in your city (100 clients at $697) within 6 months. As awareness and momentum build, each new city should reach this in its first 2–3 months.
  • 200 of the 300+ businesses in each city as clients, about $139K per city per month, within as little as one year. Across San Diego County's 18 cities, that's about $2.5 million a month.
  • At least $2 million reinvested in San Diego County cities each year.
  • Over $1 billion in new income for the businesses we help across San Diego County, plus more jobs.
  • $100 million raised for local programs each year.

These are targets and examples, not guaranteed earnings.

06

What we look for

  • Business or events experience helps, but it can be learned.
  • Self-management matters most. You run your time like a business and put in the hours up front to reach the revenue goals, simply by offering to help.
  • If you can say "We're here to help," you can do this job. We're making your tools as simple as possible, so the system is a no-brainer.
  • Stay connected. Check in, pay visits, bring people to their businesses, be their advocate, and share our free resources with no expectation in return.

Be the Ambassador of Support & Goodwill your community needs.

07

Your working rhythm

We encourage everyone to work smarter, not harder, unless the situation calls for hustle. Then be ready!

Getting started

  • Walking tours, at least 2 a week. Go out between 10 AM and 1 PM or 3 and 5 PM and walk into as many businesses as you can. Tell them about us: the new media company coming to town to promote them and encourage locals to explore their town through our CityQuest games and our streaming TV channel, where local influencers talk about local restaurants, businesses and events. It's all to help the city become "better connected."
  • Leave a flyer at each business. If they're willing to take part, give them a decal for their window or door so customers see it when they come in.
  • If they ask why, tell them our story and that we're here to give them the help they aren't getting elsewhere, to bring more customers to their business.
  • Build your target list of the first 100 local businesses you want to work with.

Every month until you reach 100 clients

Once your target list is built, this is your monthly hustle.

  1. Social media outreach. Direct-message the businesses on your list that you find on social media.
  2. Your city's What's Next page. Post to keep it full of content and encourage locals to like and follow. Ours carries only event news for the city, so it stands apart from the noisy "Friends of" pages. It will also bring you more business clients.
  3. A monthly networking event hosted at a local business, offering training and networking for owners. Your job is to facilitate; we provide the training materials. Once a year we'll also host a recognition event honoring the work owners do in their community, and each week we offer online trainings and connections too.
  4. Your city's text line. Be ready to answer it from the app we provide, so locals always get the info they need. AI handles most of it, but you can jump in when needed.
  5. Be helpful on every visit. Whether it's your first intro or a follow-up, offer whatever help they need: recording a video for a new social post, sending an email to their customers, and so on.
  6. CityQuest. Help promote and organize the next CityQuest Adventure to get locals out exploring their town.
  7. Referrals. We'll help you reward people who refer you to others. More on the referral program soon.

Where it goes from there

  • Initial sales goal: 100 clients paying $297 a month.
  • Next: Grow those 100 clients to an average of $697 a month.
  • Then: Grow revenue per client beyond $697, and scale past 100 clients per Ambassador.
